Game In A Day

The idea of my Game In A Day Project (or GIAD for short) was for me to see if I could write a playable game within one day. I did this for a number of reasons:

* To get more experience of writing code to a tight deadline.
* To test different methods for rapidly prototyping ideas.
* To see how much it is possible to do in one day.
* To have another finished project to add to my website.
* To learn some new technology
* For fun!

For my first Game In A Day Project I chose to re-implement the classic game, Sokoban. It is written in C++ using cocos2d-x.

My next Game In A Day was written as an entry to the Ludum Dare 48 Hour Game Making Contest #23 on 21st/22nd April 2012 for the theme “Tiny World”. It took slightly longer than a day to create but I’ve included it here anyway. It is written in ActionScript using the FlashPunk library.

Spaceship Dogfight is a quick game I put together to learn more about programming in Unity.

I developed the Bead Game Prototype over a couple of days, although in total I think I probably spent less than a day’s hours on it. It made for an interesting learning experience, even though it didn’t work out as well as I’d have liked. It is written in C# using Unity.

Hex was written for Ludum Dare #30. It was written in C++ using the SDL library.
